Hours later, Kristie awoke. She sat up and rubbed her eyes. She looked around and saw it was still very dark out. Kristie yawned and got up out of her bed and then walked into the living room. “I can’t sleep.” She said and turned on the TV. Her eyes squinted as her pupils dilated from the brightness of the screen. Once Kristie’s eyesight was adjusted she noticed something on the coffee table next to the couch. It was a piece of paper. She took it and read it aloud.
“I’m went out for a while after you went to sleep, I’ll be back later…
-Karin”
Kristie gasped slightly and then ran to the window in the living room and opened it. She leaned against the windowsill with her hands, her eyes brows narrowed at the darkened night. She gasped upon the streets of Heartille. The only light illuminating were the streetlights. Kristie felt a rush of air blow against her face.
“She couldn’t have… gone back there alone… and at this time of night! Dammit, Karin!!” Kristie shouted and rushed though the living room into her own. She grabbed a slightly thick jacket and ran to the living room, exiting through the front door and headed down the stairs.
Karin felt weak, that same familiar kiss was shooting thousands of volts of energy through her veins. She knew it was not going to last, Karin had, had enough. She pretended to “wake up” and slowly opened her eyes, and then her acting came in hand. She jerked her head away and glared into the crimson eyes of, Julian.
“What’s your problem?” She yelled, clenching her fists. She tried to get up after him, but the shackles were holding her back. She only got within the few feet of between the two. “Why did you kidnap me?” She asked. Julian said nothing but kept starring at her. He stood up and started to turn around. “Hey! Answer me!” Karin said sternly. “You are my prisoner. At least until I find out why you do this to me.” He said. Karin gave a very confused look.
“Do… what to him?” She thought, but kept silent. Karin didn’t feel like arguing right at this moment, especially not with someone who has the better advantage over her. Julian started to walk away and then head up the stairs, shutting the door, and from what Karin heard he locked it too. Karin screamed slightly and yanked her hands away from the wall, trying to break the chains.
Adrian laughed slightly; hearing Karin’s attempts to break free made him in a happy mood. He sat upon a large armchair, his legs crossed over, his right arm stretched out on the arm of the chair, and the other hand holding his head up.
“She sure is loud. Can I make her shut up?” Adrian asked, smirking to Julian, who was coming into the living room through the basement door. He sat down on the couch across from the armchair. Julian glared at Adrian slightly until he spoke
“You are not to touch her Adrian… she’s mine.” Adrian gave a small pouting face, but then it turned serious.
“Julian do you really think she’s the one?” Adrian asked while Julian leaned off the couch. His elbows on his knees, staring at the mosaic designed rug.
“Her blood has most essential scent. She makes me want to take it… but I suppose I substitute it with kissing her instead. Julian replied running his hand through his pitch-black hair. Adrian gave a surprised / jealous look.
“You kissed her? When, where?” He said in emphasis. Julian sighed
“Today the school, today the basement.” Julian said giving a plain look at his brother.
“Two times? You kissed her two times? Man, lucky!” Adrian said leaning his head backwards and closing his eyes. “She’s the one I wanted.” Julian rolled his eyes. There was never a moment Adrian wasn’t talking about mortal girls. Julian, himself was pretty tired of it, but usually went along, just for the conversation part.
“What about that blonde… Kristie… was it? What did you think about her?” Julian asked laying back on the couch with his hands behind his head. Adrian shifted in his chair and leaned back slightly
“Hmmm, I liked her too. She’s more my type anyway. Plus she’s hard to deal with, I like that.” Adrian smirked while his eyes were closed. Julian made no movements at all but said
“None the less, Karin is mine.” Julian said as if he were dying. That totally crush Adrian’s mood. Adrian sighed and looked at Julian seriously.
“Julian, brother… you do realize what your problem is, don’t you?” Julian looked at Adrian from the corner of his eye. His face held no emotion but you could tell he was listening intently. “You have a split personality. This fake, calm… non-blood sucking Julian is just a fraud. The real Julian is locked away in your soul.” Julian still didn’t say anything. “She could awake the old… lust full, blood thirsty Julian.”
“Karin… Karin! Where is she? Karin!!” Kristie yelled all throughout the town. She had already checked the abandoned schoolyard; yes, Kristie went there anyway, no matter how scared she was but fortunately for her, no one was there. All that was there was a stray cat and thousands of patches of moss. Kristie stopped right in the middle of a streetlight then clenched her fists and threw her head back. “Ahhh! Where the hell are you? Stupid, Karin!!” Her voice echoed back to several houses down. She also heard some few birds flutter out of a tree and screech. But were they birds?
“I know where she is.” Said an eerie voice from behind her, surprised Kristie turned around immidiotly and faced a man. He had pure white hair and the darkest of blue eyes. He looked like he was in his twenty’s but still very fairly young.
“Who are you?” Kristie demanded. The man smiled sweetly but cynically.
“My name is Ethan. And as I said before, I can take you to your Karin.” He said calmly. Kristie’s face lightened a bit.
“How do you know where she is?” Kristie asked. Ethan’s smiled never faded
“I saw you at the old school yard. I was trying to sleep in one of the cars, but then I heard some yelling. I looked out and saw you two.”
“But how did you know our names.” Kristie asked
“Karin! You’re ok! - Kristie did you-” Ethan quoted from when Karin and Kristie were at the school with Julian and Adrian.
“I think I can trust him. If he leads me to Karin it doesn’t matter.” Kristie thought. Ethan extended his hand out to Kristie, she looked down and starred at it. Hesitantly she reached up for his hand with hers. How would some random guy know about Karin? Why was he at the school in the first place? There were many questions still unanswered, but there was no time to ask them now. Kristie looked at Ethan’s hand skeptically. Her eye brows slightly narrowed… as she took his hand.
As Kristie and Ethan reached the Belvidere manor, where Karin was, Kristie gazed upon the huge mansion. “Is this where Karin is?” Kristie asked looking at Ethan anxiously. Ethan smiled at her while closing his eyes. “It is.” Kristie turned her head back to the mansion and started to bolt towards it. Ethan made a shocking face and grabbed the back of Kristie’s shirt collar. “Woah girl! You can’t just barge into a vampire’s home! It just spells death!” Ethan said while holding Kristie back without any effort. “But I have to save her!” Kristie refused while still trying to run. Ethan sighed and pulled her back so Kristie would stop running. “Listen I know a back way to the mansion. Odds are she’s being held in the basement prisoner. ‘Cause that’s basically what vampire’s like to do. So are you going to follow me or get your butt kicked like last time?” Ethan said giving her a small smile this time. “Anything to help Karin!” Kristie replied quickly but calmly. “Good, follow me… ” He said turning to walk to the side of the mansion. Kristie followed, but cautiously. Ethan made a mistake that he would probably regret in time…
“I’m bored… “ Adrian whined to his brother while throwing a piece of wood in the fireplace. The red fire illumination his already red eyes. Julian slightly shook his head and closed his eyes. “Maybe you could go find-” Julian started but stopped and shot open his eyes when he heard a loud crash coming from the basement. “Is it Karin?” Adrian spoke turning “Let’s go.” Julian said in a bit worried tone, but never the less calm.
“I told you to be quiet!” Ethan yelled as he threw the metal strip out of his way while Kristie stood up brushing off her butt and walking away from him with her nose in the air. He made a small pouting face seeing as she was using her pride to make him have a negative vibe. They had just entered the Belvidere mansion through a window leading to the basement. “Kristie?!” Karin said as she was a few feet away and could see two figures coming towards her. “Karin! It’s you!” Kristie rushed over and hugged her best friend. “I’m so glad I found you!” Kristie spoke “So he was telling the truth… ” Then thought, while breaking the embrace and looking at the shackles Karin was in. “You!” Kristie pointed to Ethan who made a dumbfounded face while pointing to himself. “Me?” “Yeah, can you find something to break or unlock these with?” Kristie spoke. Ethan sighed and walked over to Karin and started to tinker with the shackles. Karin gaze the man a confused look. Ethan. Ethan. To Karin he seemed so familiar but she knows she had never met him before. At least she didn’t think she did. “Kristie… Who is this man?” She asked. “Oh, his name’s Ethan, he helped me find you. He was in the schoolyard when we first met the brothers…” Kristie said for now, seeing as this wasn’t the time to make small talk. “Oh… ” SNAP! “Here, you’re free.” Ethan said with his famous smile and stood up. Karin also stood up and rubbed her wrist. “Th-Thank you very much.” She stuttered with amazement how he just broke two shackles with nothing “How did you?-” Kristie started but stopped. Everyone turned around when they heard the cellar doors slam open with two angry vampires running down the stairs. “Oh crap!” Kristie yelled, “Run!” Karin shouted and pushed Ethan and Kristie to the window, making sure they would escape. First Kristie, Ethan, and barely Karin. Julian tried to grab her foot but Karin just kicked his hand away hard. When they were all outside they ran. Running as fast as they could, although one was missing. Though Karin and Kristie didn’t know this Ethan had disappeared while Julian and Adrian were chasing them. Suddenly Julian and Adrian stopped running. It was as if they were possessed and turned, casually, around and started to walk back to their mansion. Karin and Kristie had won. They had escaped from the Belvidere’s grasp and made it home safely.
He watched as Kristie made her way into Karin’s apartment with Karin tailing her. He was standing on a building not far away from Karin’s apartment but far enough so neither Karin nor Kristie could see him. His long trench coat blowing in the current of air along with his pure white hair. “You’ve finally reached the point to where you will start the rest of your life. Congratulations… my daughter.” Said Ethan.
