Blood Dream | WARNING: This chapter contains mature language, intense violence, and use of blood in a deppressing way that may CAUSE deep deppression. If you cry easily please turn off any sad music that is playing, thank you.
A sudden crackle lit up the sky as lightning could be seen from the distance. Kristie gasped seeing as how it surprised her. ”What have I done? Now Karin will never forgiver me.” Kristie thought as she ran down the same familiar street that had no trees on either side and the dirt clenching between her bare feet. She was in such a rush and daze she forgot to put them on when she blared out of Karin’s apartment. Tears followed close behind her in almost a trail as they dripped from her face onto the ground. They were soon followed by 3 more drops, then 7, then 10 all at one time several more drops of water fell down, but they weren’t Kristie’s tears, more so rain from the sad sky. She looked up as she kept running and sniffled at how the weather was mocking her. “Why am I leaving? Where am I going? Karin!” She sobbed, as she was oblivious to the rock that was imbedded into the ground and tripped over it. The next thing she felt was the sudden impact of the ground meeting her body. She let out a small yell as she had scrapped her knee in the process. “Why is this happening? How could two guys ruin a friendship that’s been alive for almost 18 years?!” Kristie thought as she gripped the ground, which was glazed with mud, and she herself now covered in it, but that was the furthest thing from her mind. She continued to sob on the ground until she heard footsteps coming her way. “K-Karin?!” She spoke in a scratchy tone hoping her best friend would have come after her. But when she looked up she didn’t see Karin, she met the familiar eyes of Adrian Belvidere. “Kristie?” Adrian said kneeling down to make sure it was her, and it was. He smiled a comforting smile and extending his hand. “Why are you crying?” Kristie sniffled as she took his hand.
“Ow! Dammit!” Karin yelped as she took her hand from the wall she just punched. She then caressed her aching hand with the other and paused a few seconds before falling against the wall and sliding down it, her bangs covering her eyes. Her eyes were red and slightly swollen from crying for about 10 minutes straight and now her knuckles were hurting too. A while ago Karin made a pact with herself that she wouldn’t cry anymore. But that contract, was now broken. “Why? Why would we fight? We haven’t fought in so long… Why now?” Karin mumbled out between sobs and let her hands fall onto her lap. “What should I do? What should I do?” She sobbed out again and tried to stand up but failed and accidentally fell on her side, her hair in her face and swerved all around the living room carpet. “Look’s like Im spending the night here again… "
Kristie sniffled again as she held the blanket, entirely wrapped around her, tightly. She hadn’t snuck into the Belvidere mansion, but invited in, and she accepted. Adrian in fact wasn’t all that bad once you got past the bad boy act; he was actually sweet and funny. Bad boy was defiantly more Julian. “Here.” Julian said handing Kristie a cup of hot chocolate. Kristie eyed it and eventually took the cup from him, she was about to say something but Julian interrupted her. “I didn’t make it, Adrian did, and he just told me to bring it to you.” He stated walking away. “He’ll be back in a sec.” And what do you know, he was. Holding several clothe like fabrics, then held his hand out to her. “C’mon I got you some fresh clothes. We can wash yours if you want?” He said with a genuine smile. Kristie looked at him a bit to shy to say anything so she just set the cocoa on the nightstand and stood up to take his hand. The clothes she was wearing had dried off by now and were just plain dirty from mud stains. She then took his hand slowly as he led her o the bathroom. He then let go and held out the clothes for her. She smiled slightly as she took them slowly. “Thank you.” She managed to say minus the fact that her throat hurt. Adrian smiled as he moved his hand onto her cheek and wiped a stray tear that was kept on her face. She blushed at his touch and even more when he moved to kiss her forehead. “Welcome, down the hall and to your left is back to the living room, I’ll be waiting.” He finished as he closed his eyes and gave a goofy toothy grin, then walked back to the living room. Kristie smiled in a dazed way as she touched her forehead. “Could I really be falling for him? He is sweet, in a dumb way.” She thought as she blinked and jumped into the bathroom.
Suddenly Karin's eyes shot wide open as she took slow breaths. She then looked up at the clock from where she was still leaning against the wall, her body not moving but her fingers twitching senseless. 8:36 and 32 seconds, 33... 34... 35. Although it seemed like time was stopped to her, and the second hand on the clock was frozen. Karin closed her eyes and moved away from the wall and stood up. Had she knows what she was doing she probably would have gone back to sleep but she knew she couldn't. This time mimicking Kristie, she grabbed her own coat and left her apartment.
"Where are you going...? I dont know. Why are you leaving...? I dont know." A voice was in Karin's head that she seemed to recognize but she knew she had never met before. After answering every question with 'I dont know' the voice stopped as Karin continued to walk down the sidewalk on a bridge over a gushing river. She stopped in the middle of it and looked out to the water. It was about a 35 feet drop and a sure fire way to kill yourself if you didn't know how to swim, or you were just unlucky. She leaned against the cement, thick railing as the rushing sounds of the water clashing against each other, and the occasional boulder, shot through her ears. Her eyes were dazed as if any moment she would collapse and never speak again, but she didn't, she just kept looking forward.
“Karin?” A sudden voice startled her as she was thrust back into reality. She spun around to meet her familiar ‘customer’ Ethan. She stared at him for several seconds, noticing he had a sword strapped onto his back, before waiting for another response from the man seeing as how she did not have anything to say to him. He smiled sympathetically as he walked next to her leaning his elbows back on the cement railing. “Are you okay? How’ve you been lately?” He asked while she kept staring at him. There was absolutely no threat coming from him, and it seemed like he really wanted to make conversation. “Things are… fine.” She lied in monotone as she looked at the ground lazily. He looked at her skeptically and raised an eyebrow. Karin noticed this from her peripheral vision and glared at the ground. “Why do you care, you hardly know me.” She continued. “Heh, I know you much more than you know yourself.” He said with a cheesy grin while closing his eyes. Karin turned to him at this. “What are you talking about? Ethan, right? Why do you keep popping up everywhere?” She questioned bringing up the fact she saw him when she was at work then he dissapeared. Ethan continued to keep his eyes shut as he tilted his head up towards the new, sprinkling sky. “It’s my job.” He simply said with a small chuckle. Karin was dreadfully confused at this. He saves her, visits her at her job, and now is here this very moment talking to her as if they were old friends. “What’s your job? Stalking me? I don’t want to deal with this, just stay away from me.” She scolded as she started to walk away; Ethan didn’t move but continued to talk to her. “That’s a nice necklace you have there.” He said while opening his eyes to look at her as she stopped in place and looked at him with a slight glare. She had a chain necklace, with a pendant like charm hanging on it, that was tucked under her shirt collar so it was unseen, she always worn it, 24/7, even if you couldn’t visibly see it, it was always on her. It was a gift from her father since it had “Be who you are Karin, love always, Dad.” carved into its back. Karin brought her hand up to her neck and touched the pendant through her clothes. “How did you know I was wearing a necklace?” She questioned. “Ahahaha, I didn’t, but I’m so happy you wear it!” he said in almost a giddy tone. “Who are you?!” Karin yelled apparently being fed up with all his little word games. He smiled and walked towards her, she didn’t move. She wanted to end his charades. Once he was within a foot and a half of her he stopped and gave a loving smile. He lifted his hand and touched her cheek while rubbing it slightly with his thumb. Karin was a bit shocked at his actions but something gave her a warm feeling, like something that she had been missing for a while but now had come back, she wanted to cry. “Karin, I’m so proud of you. For being so brave, and strong.” He said with a straight face with total seriousness in his voice. Karin bit her lips to conceal any emotions she might have been feeling until she knew who he was 100%, but she was putting the pieces together. He then reached into the collar of his shirt and pulled out an oval shaped locket and heasitated then opened it… revealing Karin when she was a little girl about 4 or 5 years old, Ethan with slightly darker silver hair, and Karin’s mother, which looked like an exact replica of Karin now. “Oh my-” Karin gasped as she place a hand over her mouth quickly. “This man, he’s, is he… my father? No that’s not possible!” Thoughts of where he came from what was in his past and more importantly ‘their’ past were all jumbled up in Karin’s head like at any moment she would fall to her knees which was now impossible since Ethan had just embraced her tightly. “Karin, what you’re thinking Is true, I am your father.” He spoke as if he himself were going to cry, but didn’t. Although Karin’s eyes were now wet as she let them fall down her cheek. “I… I don’t know, how can you, how could he still be alive he was-” She started. “Killed, in a demon massacre, seven years ago. No, just badly wounded and to late to try and find his daughter before she left for Japan.” (After the attack, Karin went to stay with her aunt for a few years in Japan) and returned to America when she was 17 ½) Karin was speechless, the only one’s who knew of the tragedy was Karin’s family and Kristie so he had to have been telling the truth, that was the only explanation she could conduct at the moment. “D-Dad… it’s really you isn’t it?” “Yes.” “Oh Dad!” Karin shouted as she practically jumped on him in returning the hug. He smiled as he let one tear pass from his eyes to Karin’s jacket shoulder while Karin was almost soaking his. “I’m so happy! I missed you so much!” She continued to sob as she sniffled. “I missed you too Karin, I’m sorry I was so slow finding you, an old man can only do so much yanno?” He said while they both smiled and gave a small chuckle and released the hug at the same time. “And… mom?” Karin asked in hopes she would miraculously be hiding out in Karin’s shadows like Ethan was, but there was absolute no hope in her tone, she would accept it if her mother was dead seeing as how she had been alone this whole time, she would be used to it. Ethan paused while making a dismal face. Karin also followed his expression and nodded her head. “If she was still alive I know she would have been just as proud as I am.” He said while wiping off the rest of Karin’s tears. She smiled slightly while whispering thank you. “So! Tell me why you were so depressed before!” he said lightening the mood just a little. “Well… Kristie and I got in a fight and-” she started while Ethan put a finger to his lower lip and looked at the cleared but still very dark sky. “Ahh Kristie, I remember her; she must have grown like a weed.” He smirked as he looked forward past Karin. “Long blonde hair, pure blue eyes, about 5’6 wearing a black tee shirt with baggy jeans held up with a studded belt?”. Karin made a puzzling look, aside from him meeting her before how could he have known what she was wearing? “Karin!” A girl’s voice yelled from behind Karin. She immediotly turned around to see a running Kristie followed by Julian and Adrian. “Karin! I’m sorry!” She yelled again as she ran up to Karin and hugged her while Karin did the same. “Me too Kristie.” Karin spoke softly as she gave Kristie a good squeeze and let her go. “I promise I won’t ever be a hypocrite again, and I won’t run away!” Kristie spilled while grabbing Karin’s coat sleeves. Karin made a puzzled face at this. “Well you better not! Or else… no dinner for a week!” Karin pretended to scold her as she gave a fake stern look while holding in her laugh. But Kristie didn’t she was happy to be friends with Karin again and they both laughed while Ethan smiled down on his daughter and her best friend. Adrian smiled and looked at Julian who was slightly smiling at Karin. He then turned and hugged him with all his might. “I love you Julian!” He exclaimed as Julian’s smile quickly erased with an annoyed expression as his brother swayed him slowly while still in the hug. “Get. Off. Me.” Julian said with ‘love’ as Adrian let go of him with a smile and his eyes closed as he face forward. Deep, deep down he knew that Julian loved him too; he just didn’t like to express it. “Kristie!” Karin exclaimed as she took reversed Kristie’s grip and took her sleeve. “This… this is my father.” She said while turning her to Ethan, seeing as she knew who he was Karin skipped the names. Kristie looked shocked as if she had just seen a ghost, which basically Ethan was. “You’re her father? Wow, I’m so happy you guys were reunited.” She said while shaking his hand and him hers. “Thank you, I’m glad to see Karin in such a… active, life.” He joked seeing as he knew what Julian and Adrian were. His smile faded as he looked at the two guys again sternly. Julian and Adrian’s eyes widened slightly as Julian jumped out of the way and Adrian went and grabbed Kristie’s waist and jumped a few feet away from where they were, Ethan did the same for Karin. A loud crash was heard from where they were all previously standing as a huge boulder was now in the place of them. It had dented the cement bridge and gave a number of severe cracks in it; if someone were to jump on it a few times it would surely break through. Both girls gasped as they noticed what had happened. “Is everyone okay?” Ethan asked while setting Karin down as Adrian did the same for Kristie but keeping her close. Everyone responded positively as they looked around trying to find the source of the boulder. “Damn, how could I have missed?” A voice, preferably a young man with about an 18 years appearance, with dark blue shoulder length hair, which slightly curled at the bottom, wearing a white trench coat, jeans and a dark blue tee shirt, said while standing on the cement shed that was just before the bridge started. He then crossed his arms and smirked. “Fuck it’s him.” Julian and Adrian thought in almost unison as they looked into the eyes of the guy above them. “So nice to see you again, Julian, Adrian.” He said in an almost mocking tone. “Rian Ko.” [Pro. Ryan] Adrian scowled as he gripped Kristie’s shoulder. “What? You know him?” Kristie asked with a shocked expression. He nodded and told her he’d explain everything when Rian was gone.
“Karin, take this.” Ethan said as he reached for the sword strapped on his back and holding it out to her while she hesitantly took it. “It was yours when you were in training. It’s your destiny.” He finished as he looked at him seriously then to the sword and back to him, she nodded then turned to everyone else.
“Rian, what the hell are you doing here?” Julian snapped as he started to walk towards the cement shed, which Rian was atop of, he smirked. “Listen, I’m not here to make small talk, lets just say I’m trying to get the throne before you two. Got it?” He glanced at Karin, then Kristie. “Sh-oohh. You guys sure know how to pick them out.” He then laughed while holding his hand up slightly. At this both Kristie and Karin blushed angrily and huffed. “That doesn’t explain why you’re attacking us.” Adrian altered as he, along with everyone, continued to glare at their newly found enemy. “I wanted to make sure you guys didn’t have an opportunity to try and steal what’s mine, I was just gonna take your girl… s, but since I’m here I mines well take your lives.” He finished while having his hand high in the air as if he was waiting for a teacher to call on him, but instead of politely waiting to be called on he grinned evilly and jumped down towards Julian while thrusting his hand infront of him as if to block the ground when he hit it. In another matter of seconds Julian was out of the was as Rian hit the cement with such force it created even more cracks in the bridge then before, causing it to crumble into a huge pot hole. “Die!” he yelled using another thrust of his arm at Julian aiming for his face. Although Julian dodged every one of Rian’s blows he could still use help.
“Kristie stay here, it’ll be less dangerous.” Adrian said quickly as he lightly pushed Kristie away from the fight ‘arena’. “Wait I-” She started but Adrian was already over to help Julian. “Please be alright.”
“C’mon why won’t you fight back? To afraid to show your real nature in front of your girlfriend?” Rian taunted Julian as he continued to throw blows at him. Julian grit his teeth together and jumped in an almost lightning speed into the air as Adrian’s leg collided with Rian’s stomach. Rian coughed as he glared at Adrian and then grabbed his leg and spun him around then let go, sending him flying. Adrian then being caught off guard fell into a nearby bush. “Adrian!” Kristie yelled as she ran across the bridge to try and get to Adrian. Rian noticed this and smirked, then darted after Kristie. “Kristie!” Karin yelled and sprinted after them both as she held her sword close, keeping it sheathed. She was running surprisingly fast and caught up to Rian before he even had a chance to look at Kristie’s face. “Leave her alone!” She yelled as she lifted her leg over her head and aimed it down at Rian. He made a puzzled face and quickly retreated back a few feet as Karin’s impact hit the road; of coarse she wasn’t nearly strong enough to make big dents like Rian. She glared and stood infront of Kristie who was fetching Adrian from the bush. He smirked and stared at her for a few seconds, his golden eyes seemed to be penetrating her mind, searching for something he could use against her, and he found it. “Ahh I see.” He said while grinning at her as he moved his head to the left as he dodged Julian’s punch. Rian then grabbed Julian’s remaining arm and threw him forward at Karin, she immediotly dropped her sword and held out her arms to catch him, she did but skidded back a few feet and then fell to her knees, seeing as he was bigger than her. Rian laughed as he took notice of how everyone was on solid ground except for Ethan who was still on the bridge. “Hahaha! You guys are making this way to easy!” He exclaimed as he looked directly into Karin’s eyes, as if pleading for her to forgive him. He then leaped into the air above the bridge and made a fist. “I know more than one way to destroy you!” He yelled, aiming his words at Karin. “A chain.” He finished as his fist pounded into the middle of the bridge a few feet from Ethan. Karin’s eyes widened as she figured out Rian’s plan. She then finished helping up Julian and ran towards the middle of the bridge, Julian noticed this and followed her quickly. Rian smirked as he felt the ground rumble infront of him and start to crack, he quickly jumped over the solid ground opposite everyone and watched as the gap in the bridge grew even more. Ethan’s eyes widened as he felt himself grow shorter than everyone and it was defiantly to late to jump onto another parchment or grab onto something. All he could do is watch, and so could Karin. “No!” He then smiled and closed his eyes halfway while, hearing Karin’s voice echo through his and everyone’s ears. She was about to just run off the new ‘cliff’ until Julian grabbed her by the waist with both hands and held her back as much as he could. Karin’s eyes welled up with tears as she witness her father’s body fall peacefully to the rocky waters below. Her mouth was dropped slightly as it quivered, tears now pouring out as she held Julian’s arm with one hand and the other hanging down facing the water.
Kristie’s eyes also start to water as she watched everything that was happening. Adrian put his hand on her shoulder letting her know that he was here if she needed comfort, but she wasn’t the one who needed it. Karin was.
Karin pinched her eyes shut while narrowing her eyebrows and started to try and thrash away from Julian who continued to hold her tightly so she wouldn’t jump. “No, father please! Don’t go, don’t leave me again!” She continued to cry as she flinched hearing her father’s body crash loudly into the deadly waters below. She looked down slowly as she gasped and widened her eyes to their limit; they showed sorrow, and horror, as the once pure, clear water change into a deep, dark, red.
