As Karin continued to look for food and goods for her apartment she noticed someone starring at her from a ways down the aisle. She didn’t look at first to seem too suspicious but the feeling of their eyes drilling on her was getting uncomfortable. She then sighed and started to walk their way then casually looked at him. She gasped. “Dylan?” She said quietly but enough for him to hear. Dylan Miller, one of Karin’s worst enemies since freshman year. Always picking on her and teasing her, perhaps it was one of those ‘pick on you because I like you’ deal, but even still. Although his appearance shown different he had also graduated early along with Kristie and Karin. His IQ exceed that of a normal high scholar, then again, so does Karin’s. “Hey Karin, haven’t seen you in a while, what’ve you been up to?” He asked in almost a mocking tone as he continued to stare at her. His pure brown hair and gorgeous green eyes were something every girl would love to drown in. Not to mention his perfect body. “Nothing much.” She started and continued to walk the opposite direction of him; of coarse he had to follow. “Still living with your mom?” She finished and gave him a victory smirk. He scowled and put his hands behind his head with his elbows pointing infront of him. “Actually no, I moved out of that dump and got myself a real home.” He alleged in a matter-o-fact tone. He probably meant it literally since he was practically swimming in money from his wealthy ancestors. “Well congratulations, now leave me alone.” She practically yelled at him as she exited the aisle and glared at him. He then took her shoulders in his hand and made her look at him. Sparks were hidden as they glared into each other’s eyes. Defiantly not a pair you would want to lock in a room together. Kristie on the other hand would volunteer herself. “… Heh, you haven’t changed still the same, bitter, hottie from high school.” He let go of her shoulders and started to walk back to wherever he was and whomever he was waiting for, while waving a hand back at her. “And be sure to tell Kristie I miss her too and I’m still amazed at how she ‘performed’ at prom night.” He said obviously meaning he and Kristie ‘did’ something that night but ran away immediotly after saying so. Karin blushed and grabbed the nearest glass of pickles off the shelf and chucked it at him but missing and having it crash on the large cooler in the frozen food aisle. “Stay away from her asshole!” Karin said realizing that he was lying. If Kristie did anything with him she would defiantly tell Karin, enemies or not. Once she realized what she had done she immediotly yelled, “Uh, I can pay for that!” She sighed and then something hit her, or more like buzzed on her. It was her cell phone. She took it out from her pocket and read the message. “I’m sorry!” She raised an eyebrow. “From Kristie, what the hell is she apologizing for? Is she-” Karin gasped at how she realized what and where Kristie was. She then immediotly dropped her carriage and sprinted out of the store.
“Kristie… ” Adrian started as he held her close, Kristie on the other hand was frozen solid, she didn’t know if she should be scared or flattered, al she could do was wait. “Listen, I know we got off to a rough start but, I would really like to get to know you.” He concluded as he released his grip just a little so they could see each other’s faces. “Really? Well um, that’s uh cute but I really have to go, maybe we could talk some other time.” Adrian pouted, “Why can’t we talk now?” He said nuzzling his head in the crook of Kristie’s neck like a kitten. She blushed madly at this point. Sure he was cute, very cute, but this wasn’t her idea of a hot date. She then pushed him away so they weren’t touching anymore; Adrian allowed this to happen but kept his gaze on her intensely. “Listen, I’d love to go on a date with you but… like I said now’s not the time, so I’m just going to g-” She started and quickly picked up her cell and pocketed it. But Adrian grabbed her wrist again and made her look into his eyes. They were crimson red at this point. Kristie’s eyes then faded from her normal cerulean blue to a teal like color with no light, but as soon as she blinked they were back to normal. “What are you-” She said and tried to get away from him, but when she tried to move all her muscles failed. Her entire body felt like it was numb, she could just talk and move her eyes, and her movements just looked like small twitches. “Kristie, I command you-” Adrian started, as his eyes were still red. “Adrian! What are you doing?” Another voice was heard from the door to inside the mansion. It was Julian, with his arms crossed. Adrian turned to look at his brother while keeping the tightest grip on Kristie, which was annoying her a bit. But she realized that she could move again, Adrian’s eyes were back to normal and so was Kristie. “Julian, I though you were still sleeping.” Adrian returned. “It’s 3:30 and dark out dumbass, why wouldn’t I be awake?” Julian snapped. “You could be tired?” “No.” “Julian! You’ll knock some sence into him wont you? Tell him to let me go!” Kristie said with a cheesy grin but still hoping she would get some help. Julian raised his eyebrows slightly seeing as how he didn’t think she would be so informal as to talk to an almost stranger like they were friends. He sighed and unfolded his arms while putting them into his pants pocket. “Adrian, let her go.” Adrian was surprised at how his own brother would take the side of a mortal, one that he wanted nonetheless. Julian glared at him. “Think about it, she’ll never like you if you force her to do stuff she doesn’t want to, idiot.” Julian sighed at how his brother didn’t notice that before. “Doesn’t he care that I broke into his house? Weirdo.” Kristie thought with a small smile. Suddenly a loud slam was heard from the other side if the basement followed by a lot of panting. The cavalry had arrived and her name was Karin Brooke. She was tired and panting a lot had she been trying to run from the grocery store past her house and to the mansion. “… Kristie!” Kristie’s eyes were so happy to see Karin’s face that she almost cryed but obviously didn’t. “Karin” She said softly seeing as how she knew her best friend would know that she was in trouble. Most of their friends would have just pondered of what the message ment but seeing as how Karin knew in a few seconds, their bond was the strongest. “Karin!” Julian said in a surprised tone but still calm. “Get away from her!” Karin said as she ran at Adrian with all her might while Kristie moved to Adrian’s side so she wouldn’t get hit by Karin, thrusting her shoulder into Adrian’s stomach. And by the force of impact it must have been pretty strong if he was flung back and landed on Julian. Karin then grabbed Kristie’s hand and ran for the door making their speedy exit. “Adrian get off me you idiot!” Julian said pushing his brother to the side on the floor while he sat up. “Julian my tummy hurts!“ Adrian said holding his stomach from Karin’s unexpected blow. Julian rolled his eyes and hit his forehead lightly with his hand while the other held him up. “And you call yourself a vampire.”
Back at Karin’s apartment everything was silent. First Kristie told Karin not to go back by herself and then she goes there? Can you say hypocrite? Karin was now out of her uniform and into a black tank top and black short shorts, while Kristie was wearing blue pajama bottoms with mini polar bears stickered all over them, and a white tank top. Karin was in the kitchen grabbing a bag of chips seeing as she didn’t have time to go shopping after all. Kristie was sitting on the couch with her legs crossed and her hands clasped over them as if she was waiting politely for something. Karin went into the living room and sat down on the floor directly infront of the TV apparently watching the all black all the time, channel. They both sat there in silence as Kristie wished Karin would talk to her. She hadn’t said anything since they got back to the apartment. “… Um… Karin? Plea-” Kristie started but stopped when the loud crackle sound of the chips bag was ripped open by Karin with the reaction of some spilling on the floor. Karin looked at them and after a few seconds, ate a few from the bag seeing as how she didn’t care about the mess. Kristie’s eyebrows were narrowed upwards seeing as her best friend wasn’t talking to her. “Please listen to me! I only went because it was the day time, and I didn’t think I would get caught!” Kristie pleaded as she awaited some response but continued to get Karin eating chips, so she continued. “Ri-nii!” Kristie stated. Ri-nii, one of Karin’s former nicknames that Kristie used when they were children but gradually lost as they grew up. “Please don’t call me that!” Karin snapped, “I thought you forgot.” Then thought holding back few tears. The truth was Karin loved to be called that; she liked to think of it as a link that only them two had. No one else ever gave her a nickname, and Ri-nii was all that Karin remembers of her childhood, and she wants to keep that part alive. “I… I’m sorry, for everything.” Kristie apologized while tilting her head down slightly. At this Karin turned around thus spilling more chips off her lap but she could care less. “You should be! I mean it’s not so much that I minded saving you but what hurts is that you went alone! I would have gone with you when I got home! We could have gone, together!” Kristie’s head bolted up as she stared into Karin’s glaring eyes. “And that Adrian, all he want’s to do is get in your pants and drink your blood! Dylan says hi by the way!” Karin continued as she picked up the chips that were on the floor and got up to the kitchen and threw them away while putting the bag away. Kristie glared slightly but in a defending way. “Adrian has nothing to do with this! I could have run into Julian and I know he doesn’t like me! Maybe you’re just jealous!” Kristie threw her own argument at Karin as she unknowingly changed the subject. “I can defiantly tell you that I am not jealous, I don’t even like Adrian like that!” Karin yelled back as she returned to the living room while keeping her stance, Kristie was the one to stand up so she could meet Karin’s eyes. “We haven’t fought since third grade.” They both thought in unison but obviously not knowing one another did. They just continued to glare at each other. “Well I’m sorry for worrying about you!” Karin returned. “You don’t worry about me, you’re just putting up with me until I move out! Which is soon by the way!” Kristie yelled. This totally set Karin off. Putting up with her? If Karin didn’t want Kristie to live with her she would surely say something but did she? No. “How dare you say that! Kristie, you have no idea how much I think about you, if I didn’t worry about you then you’d probably be dead by now! And if I didn’t want you to live with me I would defiantly tell you!” “Well then let me speak for you-” Kristie started as she walked past Karin bumping her shoulder on accident, eve though Karin though it was on purpose, and grabbing her coat off of the coat rack. “Good bye!” She yelled walking out of the room and out of Karin’s apartment, but by the time Karin opened the door Kristie was gone. At this point, Karin’s eyes welled with tears as they poured out, but what she didn’t know was that so were Kristie’s.
